![]() History of the Church:Worship and Christian Education have been a vital part to the lives of the residents of Pennington Bend since it was settled in the 1870's. Around 1800 the first three families (the Graves, Williamsons and the Penningtons) ferried the Cumberland to the Hayesboro community to worship. They later convinced the circuit riding minister to meet in one of their homes once a quarter. From that beginning through several buildings and sites we were able to add four Sunday School rooms to the little White Church in 1929. Many changes have taken place over the years but the strong emphasis on Christian Education for all ages has remained steadfast. |
